Thanks to Canada Snowboard for keeping us updated with what's coming up.  I will be at the Nationals this year with my husband, who will be competing in the Adaptive Snowboard Cross.  I will give you a full review when I return.

The 2012 Canada~Snowboard Speed Nationals
Nakiska, AB - April 1st – 7th

(Vancouver, BC - March 7, 2012) Canada~Snowboard, in partnership with Alpine Canada and Alberta Snowboard Association, is proud to announce the upcoming 2012 Canada~Snowboard Speed Nationals at Nakiska, Alberta, April 1st to 7th.

The Canadian National Champions and Junior Champions will be awarded to the top Parallell Giant Slalom and Snowboardcross riders. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies and home to the 88 Winter Olympic Alpine events, Nakiska will provide an excellent competition venue for Canada’s best to compete.

The Nationals Championships is a great opportunity for the next generation of young snowboarders to compete against Canada’s current elite level athletes and learn what it takes to excel at a high level. Canada’s National Snowboard Team will be in attendance featuring olympic medalists Maëlle Ricker, Dominique Maltais and Jasey-Jay Anderson.

“We’re really excited to be working with such great partners and to be holding this event at such a fantastic location,” said Dustin Heise, Sport Development Director at Canada~Snowboard. “Athletes should expect a great course at Nakiska and a wonderful event experience overall.”

Tight race for the Crystal Globe comes down to final event

(Valmalenco, Italia – March 14, 2012) Olympic gold medalist Maëlle Ricker from Squamish, BC, won her second straight World Cup event today in Valmalenco, Italy. Ricker entered the race on a high note after winning in Stoneham, QC, and carried the momentum into today’s race in Italy. Maëlle qualified in first yesterday and kept the hammer down to take the top position on the podium.

With the victory, Maëlle joins a tight race for the Crystal Globe, which is still undecided going into the final SBX of the season. The winner will be decided after Friday's race. Dominique Maltais from Petite-Rivière-St-François, QC, is in contention along with Ricker and Alexandra Jekova from Bulgaria. Maltais finished in fourth place at today's race.

On the men's side, Kevin Hill from Vernon, BC, finished in 29th and Robert Fagan from Cranbrook, BC, finished in 47th position.

Snowcrown is Coming to Canada Olympic Park – March 13-18
Canada~Snowboard Announces the 2012 Canadian Freestyle Snowboard Championships: SnowCrown


(Vancouver, BC – February 1, 2012) Canada~Snowboard, in partnership with 365 Sports and the Alberta Snowboarding Association (ASA), is proud to announce the upcoming 2012 Canadian Freestyle Snowboard Championship known as “SnowCrown."

Athletes from coast to coast will compete for $25,000 in cash and prizing and a shot at being crowned Canada’s top Halfpipe and Slopestyle Snowboarder.

The 2012 SnowCrown schedule will include:
