Thoughts of Summer

With my feet firmly attached to my board, my mind has started to think summer.  Not that I am ready for the snow to be gone, I am hoping for many more powder days yet, but it is time to start planning.  Mountain Biking and Hiking thoughts have started to creep into the minds of many in town, especially after the last warm spell.

BettyGoHard is looking to be busy this year; we will be continuing our local womens mountain biking and womens hiking programs and womens mountaing biking camps as per previous years with some new additions that we are really excited about.  Last year Trish at Mountain Nugget did an amazing job of looking after us ladies after our rides, serving delectable goodies, the best way to finish a good mountain bike ride I think.  So on that note, we will be continuing the womens mountain biking & chocolate series, both cross country mountain biking & downhill mountain biking beginner and intermediate.  I get excited just thinking about it, the girls are amazing, thanks to all of you that have joined us over the years.  And most of all thanks for the excuse to hang out with ladies that are so willing to give it a go; riding great trails followed by amazing food and yummy chocolate - perfect!  From the first Betty event I have been blown away by the increase in confidence girls get when they are out together and how inspiring they can be.

Another one of my favorite things about summer is getting out mountain biking with the younger girls and guys in town.  We are adding to our existing kids programs with boys mountain biking camps, clinics and an afterschool riding series with one of the local rippers in town.   We are also planning a mountain bike or hike on the Columbia Trail to Castlegar, for Silver City days Saturday.  And as that weekend is Mothers Day,  we thought we would put together a ride for the kids to get out on the trails with their Mom.

That is just the start.  We have so many other events, retreats, camps and clinics planned I will keep you posted and hopefully see you on the dirt.
